The product targets fraud-related friction for Indian merchants accepting international card transactions.
PayU introduced Fraud Liability Protect, an AI-powered solution aimed at Indian merchants accepting international card payments. The launch was reported as part of the wave of payments and fraud-prevention announcements at Global Fintech Fest 2026.
Cross-border card payments can involve additional fraud screening, authentication challenges and issuer declines. Merchants must manage the tension between preventing unauthorised transactions and avoiding unnecessary declines of legitimate customers.
PayU has reported that merchants using the solution saw a 4–5% increase in international card payment success rates. This is a company-reported outcome; performance may vary by merchant, sector, transaction mix and implementation.
Fraud-related products need to be evaluated on more than conversion. Merchants should also consider dispute rates, fraud losses, customer experience, liability allocation and the transparency of the provider’s terms.
BFSI NXT perspective: For cross-border commerce, the strongest payment technology combines better conversion with sustainable fraud control.
