Razorpay has received a final Payment Service Provider (PSP) licence from the International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA) to operate from GIFT City, Gujarat. The approval allows the fintech company to process foreign-currency payments and support a broader range of international payment flows.

The licence is expected to support services such as overseas investment payments, international collections and multi-currency accounts. Razorpay’s existing integrations with RBL Bank and ICICI Bank are expected to support the rollout of the offering.

The development adds another layer to GIFT City’s role as an international financial services hub and reflects the growing importance of regulated infrastructure for cross-border digital transactions. For Indian fintechs and financial institutions, the opportunity lies in making international payments more accessible while maintaining robust compliance, settlement and risk controls.

Market participants will watch how the new capability is operationalised, the range of currencies and customer segments covered, and the compliance framework governing the service.

BFSI NXT Editorial Take

The GIFT City licence is a cross-border infrastructure story: watch regulated payment rails, bank partnerships, FX settlement and compliance readiness.
