The initiatives focus on enterprise AI capabilities and structured, auditable workflows for UPI integrations and partner onboarding.

NPCI showcased AiNxt, an agentic AI platform, and AtOM, an orchestration platform, as part of its Global Fintech Fest 2026 announcements. The initiatives point to an effort to apply AI and workflow automation to financial infrastructure and ecosystem integration.

Agentic AI systems can coordinate multiple steps across applications, while orchestration platforms can standardise how tasks and integrations are executed. In a payments ecosystem, the operational challenge is not only connecting systems but ensuring that each action is authorised, traceable and consistent with established rules.

AtOM was described in launch coverage as creating signed, machine-readable audit trails for UPI integration and partner onboarding. Auditability is especially important when automated workflows touch payment infrastructure, onboarding checks or other sensitive processes.

Financial institutions will need to evaluate access controls, change management, traceability and failure handling before relying on such systems in production.

BFSI NXT perspective: Automation can accelerate fintech integration, but trust depends on having evidence of what the system did, who authorised it and why.
