The digital lending platform expands beyond credit, enabling consumers to make UPI payments through bank accounts, RuPay credit cards and eligible credit lines.
Pune-based digital lending platform Fibe has entered India’s rapidly expanding digital payments ecosystem with the launch of UPI services on its app, following approval from the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) to operate as a Third-Party Application Provider (TPAP).
Announced on 2 November 2026, the service is available to consumers across India, including individuals who are not existing Fibe customers. Users can make UPI transactions using bank accounts, eligible RuPay credit cards linked to UPI and eligible pre-approved credit lines on UPI.
The move marks a strategic expansion for Fibe, formerly EarlySalary, from its core digital lending business into everyday payments. The company already offers personal loans, the Fibe Axis Bank Credit Card, fixed deposits, loans against mutual funds and financing across selected categories.
Fibe’s entry comes as India’s digital payments ecosystem continues to scale. October 2026 figures cited in the underlying report put UPI transactions at 25.47 billion, with a total value of ₹31.53 lakh crore.
By introducing UPI payments, Fibe is positioning itself to build a more frequent consumer engagement model beyond traditional lending relationships, bringing multiple payment sources into a single digital interface.
Why it matters: Fibe’s move highlights a broader trend in Indian fintech, where lending platforms are exploring payments and other financial services to build integrated digital ecosystems. It also adds another participant to an already competitive UPI market.
